We’re back with a list of great brown beauty events taking place in July. From hair workshops to a makeup masterclass, the London summer beauty scene is in full effect!
7th July – Miss Black and Beautiful – exhibition opening reception. The first major gallery exhibition of photographs by the late Raphael Albert (1935-2009), cultural promoter and photographer of black beauty pageants in west London from the late 1960s to the 1980s. RSVP here for free.
16th July – Ziuzo Presents Hair Fashion Passion. Hair and fashion show set up by Ziuzo, a multi-award winning hair, beauty and wellness salon. According to their website “Our mission at Hair Fashion Passion is to provide an arena for creative artists within the hair, beauty and fashion industry to display their creativity without restrictions. This year’s event promises to be spectacular! 30th July – Children’s Empowerment & Literary Festival. Sponsored by med at children aged 11 and under, and their parents, and will consist of free workshops around empowerment and literature for children to get involved with. Workshops on the day include an Author Book Reading with Nicola Tenyue of Chantelle Books, a BEATiful Barbie Makeover with Hair the Beat, a Path to Self Love workshop led by Abena Hagan of Curls Au Naturel, and the I Can Project workshop led by Dwayne Patrick. 30th July – LONDON BEAUTY PRO: Bimpe Onakayo in London. Africa based Make-Up artist Bimpe Onakoya has built up an impressive resume over the past 11 years. She has worked with personalities such as Toolz, Kate Henshaw, Omotola and TY Bello. Known in the industry for her techniques and creative eye, she has worked over a range of sectors covering bridal, magazines, editorial and TV commercials. Join her for an exclusive intimate masterclass session, where she will teach you intricate make-up techniques, the importance of skincare and the business knowledge of being a successful professional makeup artist. 31th July – The Wig Witch Workshops at SIMPLYGorgeous. This Summer, afro hair blogger, Natural Belle is partnering with family owned afro hair salon SIMPLYGorgeous to offer an exclusive series of workshops as part of her new venture, The Wig Witch.The sessions will provide each guest with the skills on how to create their own custom made wig, tips on hair care and much more.
